A set of brushes designed and curated to produce spanning uneven ranges and twisting sloping elevations, separately or in combination. Not limited to realism, as a toolset, can easily be used in extreme and creative ways to produce unreal and imaginative terrain suited for almost any genre and environment type.

Two categorical brush types, dynamic and range. 'Dynamic' for brushes that create unique mountain possibilities and 'Range' for brushes that create mountain ranges.

Categories, along with each brush's name, are only guidance and suggestion to how they might be used and what they'll likely create. As a toolset they can be used however you see fit.

Intuitive, proficient and useful is the goal. Expect future updates and versions that expand and enhance the brush set.

Instructions

Dear Mountain Mover,

Dynamic Range: Mountain Terrain Brushes are designed and curated to provide a range of mountain possibilities with dynamic creativity of monumental environment design.

Brushes were specifically designed, curated, and tested for and through the 'Raise or Lower Terrain' use. They are compatible with terrain stamp use, along with every other type of brush use, found in the built-in Terrain Editor or Unity’s 'Terrain Tools' preview package extension. Deviating use types have not been tested.

Brush Strokes: Dynamic

Dynamic brushes are named for their literal dynamic results. These brushes are found to produce uniqueness no matter the method of brush stroke. It is found and recommended to employ a combination of methods to produce the unique and dynamic results these brushes were collected for.

For visual examples and instructions please watch the preview video above.

Brush Strokes: Range

Range brushes are named for producing mountain ranges. It is found and recommended to press and drag directionally, with either a back-and-forth motion or brief stops in motion to generate points of emphasis. Mountain ranges can be iterative requiring several brush strokes. In some cases, depending on the brush and preferences a single press and directional motion can be enough to model desired results.

For visual examples and instructions please watch the preview video above.

Brush settings:

In designing and selecting the brushes included in this package, they were tested and optimized using a low brush strength. In the default terrain editor, a brush strength in the range of 25% is recommended. Using the Unity preview package 'Terrain Tools' less than 20% is recommended.

This brush strength range was used with a brush size ranging from 64 to 256 for dynamic and 128 to 256 for range. As the brush size increases or decreases incrementally adjust strength in correlation. Higher brush strengths will result in more unreal and dramatic sculpting and stroke results.

Creative Disclaimer:

As a toolset, this toolbox/brush set is designed and provided with the intention to enable creative possibility. These recommendations in brush use and settings are suggestions to ensure tested and intended quality, not to hinder or limit your own creativity. Your preferences and experimentation are encouraged!

Enjoy dear Mountain Mover!
